I focused so hard and thought about the kids with cancer at St. Jude the whole time. I was shaking!!! Please click on the photo above for the video proof!

And now, maybe you’ll consider a donation to help save lives of kids with cancer. Maybe $20.17 or $217 or any amount!

Being at St. Jude was the Experience of a Lifetime!

On Friday night, I was honored with the Jerry Nicholson Award by ALSAC and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The award is given to young person, usually a St. Jude patient, for extraordinary work in fundraising and raising awareness for St. Jude. This year was the 60th anniversary of ALSAC, and I received the award at a gala attended by everyone from Marlo and Tony Thomas to business executives from huge companies who donate millions to St. Jude, to current patients and their families. It was a night I will NEVER forget! After my acceptance speech, I was invited to be on the Board of St. Jude (I need to get a little older!) and I was called “the next Marlo Thomas.” But the most meaningful comment was from a mom who lost her daughter to cancer and said she would have wanted to raise her daughter to be just like me. That made my mom cry, and I couldn’t believe how nice it was.

Below is my speech. I hope you’ll listen to the whole thing, through the first standing ovation. What a great audience! I am so, so thankful for this incredible honor and opportunity!

This is a photo of me on stage with some of amazing St. Jude patients (and Danny Thomas’s son, Tony, on the right). It was such an honor to meet the patients and share the stage with them. They are the true heroes and fighters!

I also got to tour St. Jude and took lots of pictures of me juggling around the amazing hospital grounds. Here are just a few.

Finally, I got to be on the news in Memphis! It’s always a great way to spread the word about St. Jude and Juggling for Jude. Here’s the link to the story on the NBC affiliate there. I hope you like it!

Thank you for your support, always. Now more than ever, St. Jude needs our help. 1 in 5 children in America who are diagnosed with cancer still don’t survive. And those statistics are far worse in other countries.

Please consider donating. Every dollar helps save the life of a child with cancer and help find a cure forever.

THANK YOU!

Official Summer 2017 Juggling for Jude Kick-Off!

FullSizeRender.jpg-1Below is an email Newsletter I sent out to my mailing list to officially kick off my FOURTH summer of Juggling for Jude. Thanks for reading and looking at the photos! Oh, and I’ve been juggling every day and posting videos on Youtube. So far, no new records, but I’m sure a new one will come soon enough! 🙂

Hi Juggling for Jude Donors, Supporters, and Friends,
Last week, I kicked off my fourth summer of daily juggling!  Thanks to all of you who have donated or supported my efforts in other ways, together we have now raised more than $126,000 for the lifesaving work at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital! I am so grateful and also know there is work to be done.
I hope you will take two minutes to read some information I want to share with you as I get excited for my upcoming trip to Memphis and St. Jude! I’ll be leaving on Thursday to accept the Jerry Nicholson Award! It is an incredile honor, and I’ll be receiving it at the 60th Anniversary Celebration of St. Jude’s Foundation. I’ll get to tour the hospital, meet patients, and finally see for myself how special St. Jude is! I’m so excited, I can hardly stand it. I’m hoping that by the time I get to St. Jude, I’ll be able to say that I have raised more than $136,000!  That means getting in $10,000 of donations between now and Thursday! I know, it’s a big dream, but that’s how this has all worked so far!
I recently attended a donor appreciation luncheon, which I wish you all could have been at with me. I learned so much about how amazing St. Jude is, for example:

*They have red wagons to transport patients in the hallways.
*The rooms have different colored lights in them, so kids can choose a color based on their mood.
*They have a Proton Therapy clinic, so kids don’t have to get harmful radiation that hurts their healthy organs. Instead, proton therapy just targets their tumors!
There is SO much more, but those are some highlights.

I also got to spend time with my friend, Kayla, who is now in remission from brain cancer but had to return to St. Jude for another eye surgery, due to complications from radiation treatment. The proton therapy wasn’t available when Kayla was treated. She is a fighter and inspires me so much!

Right before school ended, I presented to the students in grades K-5 at a local school. Part of my mission is to inspire other young people to find a way to make a difference in the world!
That was my first day of officially juggling this summer. My family and I arrived in Tahoe, and it was 36 degrees! I had to juggle in a parking lot, because the field was being used. At least the juggling warmed me up!
Reminder for locals: I’m available for juggling lessons again this summer, so feel free to email my mom at allison@tjsgym.com to set up a lesson for your child. I work with all ages and both genders, and it’s a great way to support me and my cause!
That was day 3. I was at our hotel, and a little girl stopped to watch me juggle. Inspiring kids to do something like this has become one of my favorite parts about Juggling for Jude.
It takes TWO MILLION DOLLARS PER DAY to run St. Jude, and no family pays a single penny for the patient’s treatment. With your help, we can continue to support the work at this amazing place, and we can continue to save kids like Kayla, one juggle and one dollar at a time!
Please go HERE to DONATE if you’d like to keep helping. I’ll be juggling all summer long, so if now is not a good time for you, or you have recently donated, please consider giving later this season.

Finally, you can also help by sharing this email with your friends and family, who might want to help kids with cancer. Even people who already donate to St. Jude might want to give more, and I’d love for them to think of me and donate through my site.

Thank you again for your support and kindness!

Love,

HOLLIS

Donor Thank-You Event with Brain Cancer Survivor and St. Jude Patient, Kayla!

IMG_3952.JPG.jpeg

I was so lucky to be invited to a St. Jude donor appreication lunch this past week. My parents and I got to hear a lot of information about all of the amazing things going on at St. Jude. I was blown away by it all!

And, I got to eat lunch with Kayla, my favorite St. Jude patient. She is going back to St. Jude tomorrow to have some procedures done on her eyes. I know she will do great! Thanks to everyone who has donated to Juggling for Jude so far–it’s because of people like you that Kayla is doing so well today! Let’s keep going!  I’ll be juggling for my fourth summer in a row, starting on Monday!

Thanks for your support, and don’t forget to DONATE if you can!

I LOVE SHARING MY STORY OF JUGGLING FOR JUDE WITH OTHER KIDS and hope I can inspire others to give back!

Screen Shot 2017-06-05 at 10.15.05 AM.png

I just LOVE speaking to other kids about how they can turn their passion into action and make a difference in the world! Thanks to the Kindergarten-5th graders at Ross School for welcoming me and for being such a great audience! I can’t wait to go back in the Fall to help with their Compassion focus!

Don’t forget, kids with cancer need our help, so you can donate HERE if you want to support the lifesaving mission of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital!

Thank you!
