THE POWER OF DANCE, OR ANYTHING YOU LOVE DOING!
While soccer juggling has enabled me to raise money for St. Jude, I always emphasize that all passions and talents can be accessed as a path for impact. Dancing has been a huge part of my life and continues to fill my life with joy and purpose. Sometimes it’s easy to take my ability to dance for granted, especially after recovering from my semi-annual dance production, which happened just last weekend! After a long week of rehearsing and two years of being away from the stage due to COVID restrictions, I was honored to return to the stage as part of Roco Dance’s modern rendition of Peter Pan.
One of the ways I have used dance for good is by teaching pro bono hip hop classes to raise scholarship funds for dancers in need. I have friends who teach dance to kids who might otherwise lack access to dance classes. There are always ways we can use what we love doing to benefit others!
Coincidently, today I came across an incredible video of St. Jude patient Angelina on St. Jude’s Instagram. It’s a video of her back home and dancing hip hop now that she’s finished her treatment at St. Jude! I was inspired to see a childhood cancer warrior dancing after such a tough battle. Please take some time out of your day to watch the video of her hip-hop dance. It might even inspire you to donate, which you can do HERE any time!
I hope this blog inspires someone to make use of a passion or talent to give back!
