The Importance of Purpose in Teens!

This week is ski week at my school, which gives me extra time for meetings! Today I had an exciting meeting with some amazing people in the marketing department for St. Jude. I had the opportunity to talk about some research I’ve been doing that can help St. Jude communicate with their audience. This is such exciting work for me, and at a time when so many things in life are on hold, I feel extra fortunate to have so many meaningful projects going on!

This week I’m also taking a professional development class on nonprofit resilience during times of crisis, which is another way I’m adding to my education and creating opportunities for impact.

I recently came across the work of Dr. William Damon at Stanford University, who talks about the importance of purpose in teens like me: doing something that is personally rewarding and has a positive impact for others. I LOVE this idea, because I’ve lived with purpose and commitment throughout my childhood, and I feel especially lucky to have that now.

Stay tuned for more on my ideas about how we can all learn to find a purpose and create action!

Meanwhile, you can DONATE any time to help fight childhood cancer.

THANK YOU!

Hollis
