RACE FOR RESEARCH EVENT FOR ST. JUDE WAS AMAZING!!!

On Friday night, I attended an incredible event for St. Jude called Race for Research, chaired by 16-year-old Mickelina Monico, a sprint car racer who decided to revive the event her father had created back in the 1990s to support St. Jude. The evening was full of inspiring speeches and a live auction, and IN ONE NIGHT, Mickelina and her racing community raised more than $100,000 dollars for kids with cancer!

A very special highlight was meeting neuroblastoma survivor and St. Jude patient Tiara Hurr (pictured below to my right), whose story of perseverance in the face of a lifetime of health challenges left us all in tears. She was treated alongside eight other patients, and she is the only remaining survivor. She is currently working in a research lab and thoroughly enjoys theatre and singing despite the fact that she is 95% deaf as a result of radiation treatment. What an inspiration!

Mickelina: YOU’RE A ROCKSTAR and a great example of how young people can make a difference! The racing community is now apart of St. Jude’s mission, and I can’t wait for next year’s Race for Research!

Thanks for your interest and support!
